TV Remote: Smart Control — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Monkeypants, LLC ("Monkeypants," "we," "our," or "us") handles information in connection with the TV Remote: Smart Control mobile application (the "App"). The App lets you use your phone as a remote control for compatible streaming devices on your local Wi-Fi network. You do not need to create an account or sign in to use it. The App offers an auto-renewing subscription, and to provide and manage that subscription we rely on Apple's App Store (for payment) and a third-party service, Superwall (for subscription management and to measure how our subscription offers perform). Those services receive limited information as described below.
The Short Version
- You do not create an account or sign in to use the App.
- We do not sell your personal information, we do not show third-party ads, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- To offer and manage subscriptions, we use Apple (which processes your payment) and Superwall (which manages our subscription offers and provides related analytics). These services receive limited device and usage information.
- The remote-control commands you send to your TV travel directly between your phone and your device on your local network — we do not receive or store them.
- The most recently used device's local network address is remembered only on your device.
Information We Collect
Information stored locally on your device
To save you from re-selecting your device every time, the App remembers the local network (IP) address of the last streaming device you controlled. The App also stores a local flag indicating whether you have an active subscription, so it can work without re-checking on every launch. These values are stored only in the App's local storage on your device. They are not transmitted to Monkeypants, and we cannot access them. Deleting the App removes this data.
Subscription and purchase information
The App offers an auto-renewing subscription purchased through the Apple App Store. Apple processes your payment; we never receive your credit card or other payment details. We — and our subscription-management provider, Superwall — receive your subscription status (for example, whether you have an active subscription) and related transaction identifiers, so we can unlock the App and manage renewals. Information collected by Superwall
We use Superwall to present our subscription offers and to measure how they perform. When the App runs, the Superwall software development kit (SDK) collects and sends to Superwall a limited set of information, including:
- a device identifier (such as your device's vendor identifier) and an app-generated anonymous identifier;
- device and app information (such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, and region);
- app interaction events (such as app opens and which subscription offers were shown, viewed, or accepted); and
- your subscription status.
Superwall processes this information on our behalf to operate, measure, and improve our subscription offers. It is not used for third-party advertising. For more information, see Superwall's privacy policy at https://superwall.com/privacy.
Local network access
The App uses your local Wi-Fi network to discover streaming devices and to send remote-control commands (such as navigation, play, and pause) directly to a device you select. This communication happens locally between your phone and your device on the same network. We do not receive, log, or store this activity.
Information we do NOT collect
The App does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, photos, or your browsing/viewing history. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), we do not display advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites — so the App does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt.
How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to: provide the App's remote-control functionality; offer, unlock, and manage your subscription; understand and improve how our subscription offers perform; and maintain the security and proper functioning of the App. We do not use your information for third-party advertising or to build advertising profiles about you.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only with service providers that help us operate the App, namely:
- Apple — processes subscription payments and delivers the App through the App Store.
- Superwall — manages our subscription offers and provides related analytics, as described above.
These providers are permitted to use the information only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or where necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Permissions
The App requests only the permissions needed to function on your local network, such as access to local networking, Wi-Fi state, and multicast (used to discover devices on your network). It does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photos.
Data Retention and Security
The data the App stores on your device persists until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. Information held by our service providers (Apple and Superwall) is retained according to their respective policies and our agreements with them. We use reasonable measures designed to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Purchases must be made by an adult or under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a company holds about you. Because the App has no account, we hold very little information about you directly. You can remove the data stored on your device at any time by clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App. For information held by Apple or Superwall, you may also contact those companies directly. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice as appropriate.
